Cunliffe to announce unbundling of Telecom New Zealand at 5.15 today (May 3)

, posted: 3-May-2006 16:47

The minister of Telecommunications, David Cunliffe, will make a "major announcement" at 5.15pm today in Parliament according to his press secretary, David McLoughlin.

Cunliffe will announce that Telecom New Zealand will be unbundled, but at this stage no further details are know, like if structural separation of the incumbent is on the cards as well.

At first I was told that Telecom would make an announcement that it would voluntarily unbundle, but spokesman John Goulter denied this.

Will update with further information soon.
