Vodafone brings cheap Sky TV to 3G customers

VodafoneLooks like there's some fresh thinking going on at Vodafone: the new Sky Mobile TV service, starting tomorrow, February 1, looks good. Eight channels including Sky News, Sports and CNN for just $2.50 a week is a sweet deal. MTV as well, but at this stage, I don't know what the other channels are.

There's time-limit for how long you can watch Sky Mobile TV (well, apart from the battery life) , and you're not charged per channel either - or for data, although I wonder how much the service will cost if you're roaming?

It is a shame that Vodafone won't make the service available through the data cards somehow. I'd say it'd be spot on for business users with laptops, but it'd require a media player with DRM and billing support so most likely won't happen any time soon.

As I have a 3G phone again, I'll give the service a spin tomorrow and report back.

Update The other four channels are:

* The Cartoon Network
* Sky Movies
* E!
* The Discovery Channel
