Halo film loses studios financing

Master ChiefWill Halo make it to the screen, now that Universal Studios and Fox have pulled out of financing the film, produced by Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh? That depends on if Microsoft can find some more backers for the US$145 million film.

Well, it's a bit less than that, because it seems US movies shot in NZ get a 12.5 per cent rebate which is presumably the GST. Apparently, the studios tried to squeeze Microsoft and Jackson/Walsh's profits on the deal at the last moment, but didn't get anywhere so... they pulled out.

I found both versions of Halo totally addictive and was looking forward to the film version so here's hoping the money will be found. Work on the film hasn't stopped, so it looks like there are financing options coming up.

Ron Perlman Rumours have it that Denzel Washington's was considered for the role as Master Chief but is he right for the role? I sort of think Ron Perlman of Hellboy fame would be the man, in different prosthesis of course.

And here's that Hellboy trailer again, just for the sake of it:
